How to Create Your Own Map Trailer using ShareFactory on Playstation!

Creative Map Trailers are a must for any map creator. Not only does it help you reach a broader audience, but it can be a great way to communicate between you & your players. For instance, it could display gameplay that could allow your players to see what they will experience when playing your map. Or, it can take the viewer on an adventurous tour of what your map has to offer. Whatever you choose to display will be beneficial in helping your map project succeed in the long run!

If you are new to Fortnite Creative and are unfamiliar with how to create a
map trailer, whether it be for your 1v1 box fight map code, or an open world map code project, it can be difficult to get started. Especially if you don't have the funds to a hire professional editor like a big creator can.

I created this tutorial guide on how to create a map trailer using PS4 Sharefactory for this very reason. Let me walk you through all the steps you need in order to create a trailer or a montage of your creative map work!

(Before beginning, make sure your download the free PlayStation  Sharefactory app, which is available in the PlayStation store.)

TIME TO CREATE YOUR MONTAGE!
Once you have the app downloaded you can get started right away! For those who are new to ShareFactory or video editing in general this will be an easy-to-follow basic guide!

IMPORTANT!

Be sure to save your project throughout this entire process by pressing the OPTIONS button and clicking save project.

STEP ONE: Play your Game!

During online or offline play, you can create clips by recording gameplay moments that you would like to place into your trailer/montage. I recommend that these clips be less than 1 minute apiece. (30 seconds is ideal) If you forgot to turn off the record button and they happen to be longer, no worries! Simply go to the Capture Gallery to locate your clips and select the clip, press options then go to trim. Trim the clip down to fit your needs and overwrite to replace it. Once you have a suitable amount clips in the Capture Gallery, you can proceed to step two.

FORTNITE REPLAY MODE
You can also get awesome clips by using Fortnite Replay Mode!

Combining these clips with your in-game clips can create a unique and professional-looking trailer/montage of your work! When in replay mode, try experimenting with different camera angles, panning shots, and speeds.

STEP TWO: Select Your Clips

Once you are done creating the clips that you will be combining into a montage, close your game application. Go to the Capture Gallery to locate your clips, press options, edit in Share Factory, then select your best clips. Keep in mind you can only select up to 16 clips, and if these clips are over a minute a piece you might face the issue of having to edit down a 16+ minute montage to a 1-3 minute montage. So let's keep this simple

Once you have your clips selected, click edit. ShareFactory will open and have the clips you have chosen nestled in between their Playstation intro/outro - which is a generic template. You can choose to keep the generic intro/outro or delete them.

To delete them (generic Playstation intros/outros, drag the orange play bar over the clip using the left thumbstick, press square, then use the arrow pad to select delete clip, then press x to confirm. Do this for all other clips your wish to delete.

Once you have done this you can move on to step three.

STEP THREE: Choose Your Music

Press x to pull up the Add menu. Here you have several options like add clip, add an overlay, add a screenshot, etc. Since we are creating a basic montage, we are going to go to select add music. When you press confirm, Share-factory will open up the music menu. There will be songs there for your to use without the worry of receiving a copyright strike. You can preview each song before choosing by pressing the R2 button on your controller. Once you find a song that you feel fits your montage, select that.

ADD FADE IN/FADE OUT
The song will upload on a separate track which will be green on the timeline. Press the square button and select add fade-in and select your duration. Once confirmed, do the same to add a fade-out.

Music volume for the songs in Sharefactory can be too loud on playback once added. You can adjust the music volume by pressing the square to pull up the music edit menu and selecting music volume. If you do not have commentary, make sure the music is prioritized. As far as volume, I find anywhere between 55-77% fits well for projects that do not have commentary.

TRIM YOUR MUSIC
Be sure to check your timeline. If the blue bar (which represents your video) and the green bar aren't even, your song is too long or too short. Adjust this by trimming your music, by clicking the square button and going to trim music, or by deleting or trimming down clips.

Quick Notes
If you prefer to upload music of your own, I recommend you use the music from the Youtube Audio Library for Youtube videos. You can download the songs from Youtube and upload them into Sharefactory!

Plus, don't forget to give credit to the artists in your description box for using their music! I'm sure they would appreciate it !:)

STEP FOUR: Move, Trim, and Transition

This step is based on personal taste. So there is no right or wrong way to do this. First, watch your clips in the order that they are in currently.

MOVE CLIPS
If you do not like the current order, you can move them, scroll over the clip you wish to use, press the square button, and select move clip. The orange bar will now have buttons L2 and R2 displayed on the sides of the bar. Use R2 to move the entire clip to the right or L2 to move the entire clip to the left. Press X to confirm the placement of the clip.

TRIM CLIPS
Some clips may not capture the moments properly and have to be trimmed down. For example, they might be too long, or it looks odd in the cut. Scroll your play-head over the clip you wish to trim and press square, select trim clip and a new window will appear allowing you to use the left and right thumb-stick to adjust the clip to the moment wanna catch. If you need a finer trim, use the L1/L2 or R1/R2 button for a cleaner cut.

TRANSITIONS
Transitions keep your montage moving. Once you are ready, move your play-head over the clip you would like to add a transition to. Press X to open the add menu. Select add transition to check out the Sharefactory transition menu. There are a lot of options! I prefer clean cuts so I use either the transitions in the dissolve or wipes menu but I have played around with the comic options as well. Again you can preview each transition by pressing the R2 button. Once you have found the transition you like, press x to select it and it will be added to the right of your chosen clip creating a transition in between the two clips. Do this to all your clips then once you are finished and are back on the main page. Press L2 to preview your clips with music and transitions.

If everything is looking good to you then you can proceed to the last step!

STEP FIVE: Title, Saving and Uploading

If you used the Generic Playstation Intro/Outro

If you chose to use the generic Playstation into/outro then you are just about done. The layout already includes your PSN name on the second shot of the intro. You can then move on to the saving and uploading section of step 5.

If you deleted the Generic Playstation Intro/Outro no worries, that means you can create your own quick intro! This can be something like a title of what the montage is about (i.e. Hot Clips, Funny Moments, Deadly Ko's, etc). Since we are keeping this basic for this tutorial, let's just add a quick title with animation to the first shot of the scene.

ADDING A TITLE
Select your shot by moving the play-head over the clip and pressing x to pull up the add menu. Select add overlay and go down to Text. Press x to select Text and take a look through all your available fonts. For titles, we want to use bold types, but you can select whatever you feel you like. Again it is all a matter of taste.

Choose your font by selecting it and pressing x. You will be brought back to your clip to input your text. Type in your title, then select your duration and press x. (If you don't get this right at first, no worries! You can adjust it at any time you wish by editing the text overlay.)

TEXT OVERLAY EDIT MENU
Once you press X the text overlay edit menu appears. Select Transform to place your text, increase its size or rotate its position on the frame. Use the square button for perfect alignment in the center, no matter the position. Press X to confirm your changes and you will be brought back to the Text Overlay Edit Menu.

Now go and select Text Animation to add an animation for the beginning, middle, and end of your Text Overlay. Select the beginning and choose the animation you would like. Press X to confirm. Then do the same for the middle and ending animations. Your animations will be set, once complete, press the O button to go back to the Text Overlay Edit Menu.

SET DURATION
The text duration determines how long your text will appear in the shot and where it appears within the shot. To set this, please go and select Text Duration in the Text Overlay Menu. Use the L thumb-stick to adjust the timing and placement for when you would like your text to appear in the shot. Use the R thumb-stick to adjust when you want the text to end in the shot. Adjust this according to your tastes and press x to confirm your changes. Preview your Text duration changes by pressing O and pressing L2. If you need to make adjustments, place your play-head on your Text and then press the square button to bring up the Text Overlay Edit Menu. Repeat the same steps to make adjustments if need be to your title duration.

Once everything is confirmed and looks good, press the O button to get back to the Main Project Page. You can now move on to saving.

SAVING YOUR PROJECT
Now it's time to preview your entire montage! Press L2 to view your finished project! If you like what you see, perfect! Let's save your montage!

CREATE A VIDEO THUMBNAIL
Sharefactory makes it easy for you to create a thumbnail that will be uploaded along with your video! First, place your play-head over the shot with a clear view of the title to your video. Press the options key to pull up the save menu and select generate thumbnail and press x to confirm. It will Generate a thumbnail with your title name already on the image. When your video is uploaded, that thumbnail will be the default! Easy Peasy!

SAVE YOUR PROJECT
You will automatically be brought back to the Main Project Edit Menu, simply press the options button again to bring up the Save menu and select Save Project. This will save your project to Sharefactory. Once done you will be brought back to the Main Project Edit Menu.

EXPORT PROJECT TO GALLERY
This step will render your video down and save it to the Capture Gallery in ShareFactory. Once your project has been saved and your thumbnail created, press Options and select export to Gallery. Press x to confirm. Your video will begin rendering down. Once complete it will ask you if you would like to share it. If you upload it now, it will upload with the video name of Project. I recommend you cancel out of this so that you can name your video before uploading it.

To do this close out of Sharefactory by closing the application entirely. Since your project is saved, you can always access the project by opening the Sharefactory app.

UPLOADING
You are now ready to upload or share your project! But before you do, Let's give it a name. Access your finished video in the Capture Gallery, select ShareFactory to view your videos created with Sharefactory. Press the options button and select information. Change the title of your video. Once complete, press the O button to go back, then press it again to go back to the Main ShareFactory Capture Gallery page. Your video's title has now been saved. Now time to upload!

COPY TO USB STORAGE DEVICE
Press options and select copy to a USB storage device. Make sure your USB storage device is already connected before attempting. Your selected video will begin to copy once you press X to confirm. Once uploaded, you can upload your montages to Twitch.

SHARE/UPLOAD
Select the video you wish to share/upload. Press the share button on your controller. If you're connected to your platform(s), you will see a new page pop up with options you can choose. Select one and fill out the information to proceed with the upload.
