Creative News: V20.20 Update Highlights
On April 19th, 2022, Epic released an amazing v20.20 update! Why is it amazing? Because this update comes with Water, Video and new custom VFX devices! In addition to that an option to add a career board so that your players can track their stats when they come back your map! We get Tanks and Mounted Artillery Cannon, plus Turrets! Definitely a game changer!
Let's go over the top highlights of this update!
VIDEO PLAYER DEVICE
The video player device opens up new opportunities for you to add entertainment to your creative maps! You can use it in your pregame, in a mall you have built, or even it can be displayed in a house on a tv set, and more! When you go to settings you can see there is a variety of options, for instance you can set it to play one video at a time or select the Jukebox Joint selection and it will loop through all the videos at once.
There are even options to change the border to shapes like circles or triangles or you can opt out of having a border all together to create your own!
There are so many things you can do with this device and I'm sure it will bring a lot of creativity going forth!
WATER DEVICE
This, I think, is one of the most exciting devices we have for this update. The Water Device! Use it to create mashes, bodies of water, or even swimmable pools wherever you desire on your map! You can even set the water levels to rise and fall via channels and can be used to create some interesting effects! It reminded me of those Zelda Puzzle games where you you will need the water level to rise at certain points in order to complete an objective! Definitely would be great for puzzle games or whatever you choose!

CUSTOM VFX CREATOR
This yet another very cool addition that allows you to customize and create your own VFX effects! You have access to a variety of shapes to use! For instance, you can choose hearts, stars, smoke, or even water droplets!
What's really neat is the chance to attach these effects to a player! For example, let's say you have a parkour game and the player is doing very well and gets a boost, you can attach this to them to highlight the completion of the objective or even to reflect a special skill granted upon completion!
Check it out! New VFX can be made to stick to players!
